Face Masks We love
Clay Masks
Why we love them: Deep Cleansing.
If you want a skin detox, get rid of the gunk, a clay mask is the way to do it. Clay masks range from a variety of clays. Here’s a list of some clay types that we use:
1. Kaolin, which is Amazonian White Clay, is gentle and purifying. Kaolin is used in our selections: Gleamin, Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque and The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil Mask.
2. Another recommendation is red clay, used in Asarai. Red clay contains amounts of iron oxide, which is a common makeup ingredient for eyeshadow, blushes and lipstick. However, for skin care, it’s beneficial for eliminating impurities and regenerating skin.
3. Bentonite Clay, created from volcanic ash, is the most popular type in a clay mask. It has properties that absorb excess oil, but also has anti-bacterial properties that can help heal your skin. This is used in Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque.
4. Lastly, our Gleamin recommendation is created from yellow clay, made to remove dirt, oils and impurities.
Gel Masks
Why We Love Them: Hydrating and purifying.
The consistency of these masks is thin and sticky. It won’t cake, crack or peel off, but rather soak in, pull out impurities, nourish and heal.
Overnight Masks
Why We Love Them: Brightening and Soothing.
These overnight makes are comprised of a thick cream, engineered to soak in and renew your skin overnight. Don’t worry about setting a timer. Place a layer on a fresh face before going to bed and you’re good to go until morning.
